Plans have been revealed for the Historic Lewiston Jazz Festival's annual fundraiser.

Carol Calato, board chairwoman of the Lewiston Jazz Festival, announced the organization will host "Jazz & Pasta," its annual fundraiser, on Sunday, April 21, at Water Street Landing Restaurant, 115 S. Water St., in Lewiston. The event will begin at 1 p.m. and continues through 7 p.m.

The event will include live jazz, pastas from area restaurants, a cash bar and a basket and silent auction. Local jazz musicians have offered their talents for the enjoyment of ticket holders. Included will be performances by The Ron Corsaro Trio, Christian Campos, My Cousin Tone, Caputi and Co. with special guests Janice Mitchell, Jim Beishline and Friends.

The 2013 Jazz Festival, hosted by both the Village and Town of Lewiston and Lewiston Jazz Festival Inc., is scheduled for Aug. 23 and 24 in the Village of Lewiston. The event typically draws more than 40,000 people annually.

"This event has put our region on the map as a premiere place to visit and live," Calato said.

Chairpersons for the fundraiser are Lucy Muto of M&T Bank and Janet Brown of M&T Bank Mortgage Division.

"The fifth annual event was held last spring with hundreds turning out to support the Jazz Festival. We are hoping for an encore performance," Muto said.

"While this premiere jazz festival is free to the public, the cost to execute it exceeds $150,000. We are appealing to the community for help and support," Calato said. "This fundraiser really is a great value and helps us keep jazz alive and free in Western New York."

Tickets are priced at $25 each and are available at the following locations:

•The Red Brick Municipal Building, 145 N. Third St., Lewiston; Water Street Landing; Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce, 895 Center St., Lewiston; First Niagara Bank, 500 Center St., Lewiston; and Niagara USA Chamber of Commerce, 6311 Inducon Corporate Drive No. 2, Sanborn.

Tickets also may be purchased online at http://www.LewistonJazz.com or at the door on the day of the event.

Lewiston Jazz Festival organizers wish to thank the following businesses for donating pasta and other food items for the "Jazz & Pasta" fundraiser: Apple Granny Restaurant; Brickyard Pub & B.B.Q.; Casa Antica; The Como Restaurant; de La Casa; Destino's Pizzeria; DiCamillo Bakery; Favorite's Pizzeria; Fortuna's Restaurant; Frenchy's Restaurant; Hill-vue Café; Macri's Italian Grille; Smith Brothers Pizza; Town Hall American Bistro; Village Bake Shoppe; Water Street Landing; Wegmans; Wine on Third; and the Youngstown Village Diner.

The Historic Lewiston Jazz Festival is a not-for-profit corporation that relies on sponsorships and private sector donations for support.

Lewiston Jazz Festival Executive Director Sandy Hays Mies noted the organization's board of directors has strived to keep the Jazz Festival alive and free.

"With cuts in state funding, we must generate revenue from those who support live jazz and who wish to see this event kept free to the public. As part of our fundraising strategy, we are seeking donations through our website at http://www.LewistonJazz.com or through contributions that can be mailed to the Lewiston Jazz Festival, P.O. Box 663, Lewiston, NY 14092. Checks can be made payable to the Lewiston Jazz Festival. We gratefully accept contributions of any amount. All contributions are tax deductible."
