Western New York Power Allocation Board's first meeting held Monday

Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-I-Lewiston, expressed optimism Monday after the Western New York Power Proceeds Allocation Board held its first meeting. The board was set up after a bill, sponsored by Ceretto to ensure power produced in Western New York stays in the region, was signed into law. At the meeting, the board put forth a plan to allow businesses to apply for funding by April 8.

"Today's meeting was a real sign of progress for Western New York," Ceretto said. "We were able to establish goals and benchmarks for power allocation in our region that should prove extremely beneficial to our small businesses. I urge every job creator in our area to apply immediately to receive the benefits of Westen New York's ability to provide low-cost power."

Businesses interested in applying can find information from the New York Power Authority at http://www.nypa.gov/.
