A benefit for Dawn Daigler is planned for 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at St. Johnsburg Volunteer Fire Co., 7165 Ward Road, Wheatfield.

Daigler had an accident in May of 2012 that left her with a long-term spinal cord injury. Due to her injuries, she is experiencing financial hardship. She needs around-the-clock care and medical insurance has run out, making it impossible to attain the therapy she needs. She is currently being moved to a long-term care facility at ECMC. All proceeds from the benefit will go toward her medical care expenses.

Daigler, age 37, has touched many lives in the community through her generosity, compassion and friendship and was a dedicated, hard-working individual. She enjoyed line dancing and loves listening to country music and going to live concerts. The Wheatfield resident graduated in 1993 from Niagara-Wheatfield High School, attended Niagara County Community College and is a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Admission is $5 at the door and kids 5 and under enter free. There will be a clown that will do face painting.

Krolick's chicken barbecue dinners will be on sale for $9 starting at 4 p.m. until they are gone, so order your tickets ahead. Pizza, baked goods, coffee and soda will be available for purchase along with $2 draft beer.

The event will include a basket auction with more than 200 baskets, and a silent auction with high-end items valued at more than $100. There will be two live bands for entertainment featuring Common Ground and Acoustic Mile. Special guest will be Cate Laughlan from Season 14 of "The Biggest Loser." There will be a 50/50 split and for a $1 donation, a chance to win a 46-inch Sanyo LCD TV.

This event is being sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, along with friends and family of Dawn Daigler. Anyone interested in pre-sale tickets or making a basket or baked goods should call Pam Boudreau, benefit chairman at 716-946-8760 or email [email protected]. Check donations may be made to Dawn Daigler Benefit, c/o 1280 92nd St., Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Write "Dawn Daigler" on the memo line.
