Franko named CFO at Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center

Stephen H. Franko III, CPA, MBA, FHFMA, has been named the chief financial officer of Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center. The announcement was made by hospital President and CEO Judith A. Maness, FACHE.

With more than 25 years of experience in health care, Franko comes to Mount St. Mary's from Regional Hospital of Scranton in Scranton, Pa., Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock, Pa., and Special Care Hospital in Nanticoke, Pa. He served as CFO for all three facilities. Prior to this, he served as CFO for Mercy Health Partners, a large regional health care system consisting of multiple facilities with 315 beds, 620 active physicians and 1,800 employees.

During his career, Franko has successfully developed various joint ventures, including strategy and ownership transition, leadership experience for all financial services, revenue cycle, IT, supply chair, support services and operation departments. Earlier in his career, he worked as a senior accountant for Coopers and Lybrand, CPAs.

A certified public accountant in both Pennsylvania and New York, Franko earned his MBA in finance and a BS in accounting from the University of Scranton.

Active in numerous community and professional organizations, Franko has also served as an adjunct faculty member at University of Scranton; Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; Keystone College, La Plume, Pa.; and Broome Community College, Binghamton.

Franko and his wife, Joann, have eight children.
