Erie County Sheriff's Office Report for Feb. 1, 2013

The Erie County Sheriff's Office responded to 160 calls from Jan. 19 to 25. Below is a sampling of the noteworthy incidents on Grand Island.

Deputies responded to 16 burglary false alarm calls during the dates of this report.

Saturday, Jan. 19

•Whitehaven Road, customer trouble - Employees of a business stated that a male subject was causing a disturbance and refused to leave. Deputies located the subject and escorted him from the premises without further incident.

•South State Parkway, marijuana possession - Following a traffic stop, deputies arrested a juvenile offender for unlawful possession of marijuana (a violation). The juvenile offender was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Grand Island Court.

•Grand Island Boulevard, customer trouble - Employees of a tavern stated that a male subject was causing a disturbance and refusing to leave. Deputies located the subject and escorted him from the premise without further incident.

•Baseline Road, deer struck - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident involving a deer. No injuries were reported.

Sunday, Jan. 20

•Baseline Road, wire down - Deputies responded to a report of wires down on Baseline Road. National Grid was notified.

•Whitehaven Road, burglary - Employees at the Nike Base stated that they found numerous buildings on the grounds had been broken into sometime during the night. Deputies noting damage had been done to multiple buildings. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

•Love Road, parking violation - Deputies issued a parking ticket to an illegally parked vehicle.

•Alvin Road, deer struck - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident involving a deer. No injuries were reported.

•Baseline Road, deer struck - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident involving a deer. No injuries were reported.

•Baseline Road, deer struck - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident involving a deer. No injuries were reported.

•Whitehaven Road, burglary - Deputies responded to a report of an alarm ringing at the Nike Base. Upon arrival, deputies found a smashed window to the Reality Café, but no subjects were inside. Minor damage was done to the building and several items were reported missing. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Monday, Jan. 21

•Town Hall Terrace, suspicious vehicle - A complainant stated that a suspicious vehicle was parked in the parking lot and was running for about an hour. The vehicle left prior to the arrival of patrol. No damage was observed.

•Baseline Road, larceny - A complainant stated that, sometime during the night, someone stole a license plate from his vehicle.

•Grand Island Boulevard, disorderly person - Employees of a restaurant stated that a former employee was causing a disturbance and refused to leave the store. Deputies spoke to the subject, who left without further incident.

•Greenside Drive, hunters - A complainant stated that a subject who appeared to be hunting was on the golf course property behind his residence. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the subject.

•Broadway, criminal mischief - A complainant stated that, sometime during the night, someone damaged the shed in her yard.

•Baseline Road, animal loose - A complainant stated that she found a dog running loose in the area. The dog was returned to its owner.

Tuesday, Jan. 22

•Wallace Drive, youth activity - A complainant stated that he observed several youths running through the neighborhood during the late hours of the night. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate any subjects.

•Havenwood Lane, animal loose - A complainant stated that his dog did not return home after he let him outside. The dog control officer was notified.

•Huth Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that she found a window to her residence had been broken, but was not sure as to the cause. Deputies noted the window was cracked, but it did not appear the damage was done by a person.

Wednesday, Jan. 23

•Wallace Drive, criminal mischief - A complainant stated that, sometime in recent days, someone smashed the window to his business. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

•Baseline Road, water main break - Deputies responded to a report of a water main break. The Grand Island Water Department was notified.

•Staley Road, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

Thursday, Jan. 24

•Stony Point Road, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•I-190, motorist broke down - Deputies assisted a motorist whose vehicle had become disabled.

•Love Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that his neighbor's burglar alarm went off and he thought he saw lights coming from the inside of the home. Deputies spoke with the occupants, who reported they were having problems with their phone line.

Friday, Jan. 25

•Schwegler Road, drunk driving - Following a report of a property-damage-only accident, deputies arrested a 22-year-old man for driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest (a class A misdemeanor), obstruction of governmental administration (a class A misdemeanor), criminal mischief in the fourth degree (a class A misdemeanor) and various traffic infractions. The man registered a .16 percent blood-alcohol content reading after submitting a sample of his breath for chemical analysis. He was transported to the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment in the Town of Grand Island Court.

•Baseline Road, deer struck - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident involving a deer. No injuries were reported.

•West River Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that several male subjects came to her door and stated they were there to make repairs to her residence. The complainant did not schedule any repairs. Deputies located the subjects, who had mistakenly gone to the wrong house.

•Continental Lane, larceny - A complainant stated that, sometime in recent days, someone stole her medication.

•Revere Road, water main break - Deputies responded to a report of a water main break. The Grand Island Water Department was notified.

•Whitehaven Road, suspicious person - An employee of Reality Café states that he saw suspicious subjects on the property. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate any subjects. No damage was observed.
