Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-C-I-Lewiston, applauded Gov. Andrew Cuomo's 2013-14 executive budget Tuesday for its proposals to increase state aid to schools, provide mandate relief and economic opportunities for Western New York.

"The governor's budget takes important steps toward creating jobs and making our region a more affordable place to live, work and start a family," Ceretto said. "I applaud Gov. Cuomo for his economic development initiatives that Western New York needs to create jobs and make New York state a more affordable place to own a business. By improving the state's business climate, we can lay the foundation for a stronger economy and create good jobs.

"This budget also provides important funding for our schools to help ensure that our students receive a quality education. It also takes important steps at reducing the cost of unfunded mandates on our schools and local governments, which will help to lower our property taxes.

"I look forward to working with my legislative colleagues from both sides of the aisle, as well as the governor, to provide the relief our homeowners and businesses need in the final state budget later this year."
