Residents For Responsible Government announced this week it will hold a press conference on Friday, Jan. 25, at 9:30 a.m. in front of Lewiston-Porter High School on Creek Road.

According to RRG President April Fideli, that morning RRG member Tim Henderson will be discussing his son Ryan's fatal accident of two years ago when his vehicle was involved with a tractor-trailer working with CWM Chemical Services in Porter.

Fideli commented that truck traffic going to and from the CWM facility "often poses dangerous situations for motorists."

"RRG was able to get certain restrictions in place on the number of tractor-trailers going to CWM when school is in session, but those restrictions do not extend to other roads heavily traveled by these trucks," said Fideli. "Even with the restrictions, we often get reports from nearby residents claiming some truckers are not abiding by the rules."

RRG will be distributing brochures from "Road Safe America," a national organization advocating commercial truck and vehicle safety, at the event.

Also, RRG will be presenting a donation in Ryan's memory to the Lewiston-Porter music program. The donation will be dedicated to the purchase of new instruments for needy students in the Lew-Port music program. Ryan was a Lew-Port High School graduate and former member of the school's band.
