The Ransomville Speedway 2013 season officially kicked off on Jan. 1 with the 13th annual Hangover 150. A great crowd was on hand to scratch that racing itch despite very chilly temperatures. With the event officially in the record books, the focus has turned to the upcoming regular season, which is tentatively set to kick off in late April.

In conjunction with the schedule, work is also under way to re-sign sponsorship agreements and welcome new ones into the fold. Advertising within the auto racing industry continues to be very affordable and cost effective. Over the past 13 years, we have built solid relationships with many fine sponsors and enjoy working with them yearly in helping them to reach a very brand-loyal group of consumers - race fans.

Creekside Sales and Service is the latest company to come on board. Using a combination of a company night and weekly ad within the issues of the Ransomville Laps program, Creekside Sales and Service will utilize the Big R as a marketing tool in addition to an opportunity to entertain employees, customers, family and friends via a sponsored company night in the Bud VIP Towers. Look for Creekside Sales and Service to have a variety of lawn equipment on display on Friday, June 21, as they host a full card of racing. Additionally, Creekside Sales and Service will find weekly exposure as they have also agreed to sponsor the 358 Mighty Taco Modified entry of Erick Rudolph.

Coors Light is synonymous with the Alex Friesen Summer Nationals event. As a sponsor of the event for more than two decades, Coors Light is also a household name among the fans at Ransomville Speedway. Many thanks are extended to the fine folks at Certo Brothers and Coors Light for their continued dedication and support of this storied event.

As with the past few years, Brewerton Speedway has confirmed its intention of giving its Modified drivers the night off of the Nationals to allow its great drivers the opportunity to chase the $10,000 payday traditionally offered. This year's event is tentatively slated for Friday, Aug. 16.

Dig Safely NY is centrally located in East Syracuse. Its involvement in the racing scene is broad over the entire state. Specifically at Ransomville Speedway, Dig Safely NY has been a presenting sponsor for the past several years. For more information, visit its official website at http://digsafelyny.com.

Remember, safety first. Many thanks to Larry Bishop and John Roth for their continued support, not only at Ransomville Speedway, but all across motorsports.

Pit note: the Big R's annual membership and rules meeting is Thursday, Jan. 31, at the Lewiston No. 2 Volunteer Fire Co. firehall, 1705 Saunders Settlement Road, Lewiston.
