NCCC's Gemma Fournier recognized

Niagara County Community College announced that Gemma Fournier, surgical technology program coordinator, was recently selected as one of 10 recipients of the 2012 Fellow of the Association of Surgical Technologists at the Association of Surgical Technologists national conference held in Washington, D.C.

Fournier currently serves as secretary of the New York State Association of Surgical Technologists; as a surgical technology representative to local high schools; on the AST Core Curriculum Review Committee for Surgical Technology; as a lecturer at AST's instructor's workshops; on the AST Education and Professional Standards Committee, and as a director on the New York State Assembly board of directors. She has also served on the review panel for the AST Core Curriculum for Surgical Technology Review Committees for the fifth and sixth editions, and took part as a lecturer in AST's first-ever webinar for educators in 2011.

Fournier, an employee at NCCC for more than 17 years, resides in Youngstown.
