Erie County Sheriff's Office Report for Jan. 4, 2013

The Erie County Sheriff's Office responded to 145 calls from Dec. 22 to 28. Below is a sampling of the noteworthy incidents on Grand Island.

Deputies responded to 11 burglary false alarm calls during the dates of this report.

Saturday, Dec. 22

•Ransom Road, suspicious vehicle - Deputies located an occupied suspicious vehicle in the rear parking lot of Grand Island High School late at night. One traffic citation was issued to the driver and the vehicle left without further incident.

•Grand Island Boulevard, larceny - An employee of a taxi service states that his cab fare left without paying him and went inside a residence. Deputies spoke to the occupants of the residence, but the driver could not identify any possible suspects.

•Havenwood Lane, parking violation - Deputies cited vehicles in violation of the Grand Island winter ordinance parking ban.

•Amy Drive, parking violation - Deputies cited a vehicle in violation of the Grand Island winter ordinance parking ban.

•Baseline Road, pistol permit investigation - Deputies conducted a background check of an individual who applied for a pistol permit.

•East River Road, pistol permit investigation - Deputies conducted a background check of an individual who applied for a pistol permit.

•South State Parkway, deer struck - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident involving a deer. No injuries were reported.

•Alt Boulevard, larceny - A complainant stated that sometime during the night, an unknown person(s) entered several unlocked vehicles in the driveway and stole various items.

•Tracey Lane, all-terrain vehicle operation - A complainant stated that several ATVs were riding on his property and the school property. Deputies located the operators and advised them.

Sunday, Dec. 23

•Baseline Road, reckless operation - A complainant stated that a vehicle was in the Sidway Elementary School doing doughnuts. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle. No damage was observed.

Monday, Dec. 24

•Beaver Island State Park suspicious vehicle - Deputies located an occupied suspicious vehicle in Beaver Island State Park late at night. Deputies advised the occupants who left without incident.

•Love Road, fight - Deputies responded to a report of numerous people fighting at Say Cheese Pizza. Deputies' investigation led to the arrest of a 23-year-old man from Grand Island for disorderly Conduct. The man was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Grand Island Court. All other parties involved did not wish to pursue charges and left without further incident.

•Grand Island Boulevard, suspicious person - Employees of a restaurant stated that several male subjects were acting suspiciously while inside the establishment. Deputies located the subjects and advised them. They left without incident.

•First Street, wire down - Deputies responded to a report of a wire down on First Street.

•Love Road, larceny - A complainant stated that sometime in recent days an unknown person(s) stole a heavy piece of metal off of his property.

•Hazelwood Lane, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that a suspicious person was walking around his neighbor's house with a flashlight and a crowbar. The subject fled in a vehicle prior to the arrival of patrol. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle. No damage was observed.

Tuesday, Dec. 25

•Ransom Road, animal complaint - A complainant stated that three dogs were running loose in the neighborhood. The dog control officer was notified.

Wednesday, Dec. 26

•Staley Road, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•Grand Island Boulevard, motorist broke down - Deputies assisted a motorist whose vehicle had become disabled.

•Greenway Road, all-terrain vehicle operation - A complainant stated an ATV was driving recklessly down the road. Deputies located the operator who was using the ATV to plow his driveway.

•Whitehaven Road, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•First Street, suspicious incident - A complainant stated a suspicious vehicle was parked in her driveway and didn't belong there. Deputies located the driver who was a neighbor's friend that had become stuck in the driveway when attempting to turn around.

Thursday, Dec. 27

•Grand Island Boulevard, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•Baseline Road, suspicious person - A complainant stated that two intoxicated males were attempting to wave down drivers for a ride home. Deputies located the subjects and advised them.

•Whitehaven Road, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•River Oaks Drive, fraud - A complainant stated that an unknown subject made unlawful purchases using her credit card. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Friday, Dec. 28

•Bush Road, suspicious vehicle - Deputies located an occupied suspicious vehicle parked along Bush Road near South State Parkway. Deputies advised the occupants who left without incident.

•Beaver Island State Park, marijuana possession - Deputies located a suspicious vehicle stuck in the snow in Beaver Island State Park late at night. Their investigation led to the arrest of 25 -year-old Paul Swan of Grand Island for unlawful possession of marijuana. Swan was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Grand Island Court.

•East River Road, motorist broke down - Deputies assisted a motorist whose vehicle had become disabled.

•Love Road, suspicious person - A complainant stated that a male subject was acting suspicious while in front of Sunoco and then ran away. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the subject.
