Grand Islander Dr. Adrienne Cassata, an optometrist with Fichte Endl & Elmer Eyecare, will take her skills and experience to benefit the less fortunate when she travels on a medical mission to the Dominican Republic this month.

The staff and technicians at both Fichte Endl & Elmer Eyecare's offices in Amherst and Niagara Falls have been busy for months collecting donated eyeglasses for Cassata to take on her trip. The glasses have been cleaned and adjusted, the prescription has been read, and each pair has been filed for distribution. Thousands of glasses were collected over the past year in preparation for the mission.

Cassata will be going with her church, The Chapel, on what she considers a life-changing adventure. Once in the Dominican Republic, she will distribute the glasses, do eye exams and help wherever she can.
