As we enter into a new season of racing just five short months from now, attendees at Ransomville Speedway will see a change within the Sportsman and Fireball classes. This change comes within the names. Investor's Service Co. is the new official sponsor of the Sportsman division while FindItQuick.com is the official sponsor of the Fireball ranks.

As we welcome these two great companies as divisional sponsors, we also would like to say a big thank you to both the Original Pizza Logs and Bobcat of Buffalo for their years of support and dedication to both Ransomville Speedway and the local racing scene. Bob (Cordova) and Tim (Freundschuh) are great friends of the sport and we certainly wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

Investor's Service Company has two locations - one in Niagara Falls and one in Buffalo. Mike Greenawalt, the owner of Investor's Service, is also a competitor at the Big R via the Ki-Po Chevrolet Streetstock class. Rest in peace Stan Friesen

With heavy hearts and deep sadness we announce the passing of our fearless leader - Stan Friesen. Stan succumbed to his battle with cancer on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at home in St. Catharines, Ont.

Stan had a very productive racing career. He was one of the better racing competitors in the Western New York/Southern Ontario region during the 1960s and 1970s and won the Hobby Stock championship in 1960 at Ransomville Speedway. Stan spent most of his racing career in the Modifieds.

For Stan, racing a stock car wasn't going to be his only venture in the industry. Stan looked at life after racing and made the choice to work behind the scenes when he and partner Kurt Uhl purchased Merrittville Speedway in 1970. Stan continued to race but it was limited as much of his attention turned to Merrittville.

In 1972, Stan and Kurt bought Ransomville Speedway. Stan would only run Weedsport Speedway on Sundays that year while co-promoting the two facilities. It would be the final year he would ever get into a stock car on a weekly basis. Stan felt that the purchase of Ransomville Speedway gave his local drivers the strength of a weekly two-track circuit.

Stan's son Alex was like a "chip off the old block" and eventually purchased tracks in Lancaster, Fulton, Utica Rome and Mahoning Valley. When Alex died in an accident in 1996, Stan took over the running of Fulton and Utica Rome until the tracks were sold in the late 1990s. Lancaster and Mahoning were sold in 2000, leaving Ransomville Speedway as the only track in the Friesen mold. Stan along with sons Jamie and Joel made Ransomville Speedway into one of the more successful facilities today.

Stan was a great father, dad, grandpa, friend and mentor, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A memorial service took place on Friday, Dec. 28, at the Church Of The Transfiguration (North), in St. Catharines.
