Niagara-Wheatfield athletes sign with colleges

Two Niagara-Wheatfield athletes recently signed letters of intent for colleges.

Shown in the first photo is Marrisa Watroba with her coach Sean O'Brien, seated, and parents Lisa and Thomas Watroba of the Town of Niagara.

Marrisa Watroba signed to swim for Canisius College in Division I next year. Her major will be bioinformatics.

Watroba holds six school records, (200 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke, 200 freestyle relay, 200 medley relay, 400 free relay); has one league record in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.70); was senior captain and MVP (two years); was sectional champion, state qualifier and finalist (four years) and received the R.W. Urban Memorial Trophy this year for leadership, achievement and encouragement.

Shown in the second photo is Robert McMicking, who signed his national letter of intent to play lacrosse at the University of Tampa.

McMicking is a member of the National Honor Society and was the Falcons' leading scorer last year. He is pictured with his coach Vince Schiffert, seated, and parents Kim Dunning and Donald McMicking.
