The State Labor Department has released local area unemployment rates for November 2012, which are calculated following procedures prescribed by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The state's unemployment rate relies in part on the results of a telephone survey of 3,100 households (out of more than 7 million) in New York state.
The state's private sector job count increased by 88,000 from November 2011 to November 2012.
