Town of Niagara Police Blotter for Dec. 20, 2012

The following is a sampling of calls received by the Town of Niagara Police Department between Dec. 12 and 17. During that time period, 109 calls were received.

Wednesday, Dec. 12

•3200 block of Bellreng Drive, assist citizen. Patrol interviewed a resident who has been receiving calls from supposed representatives of a law firm advising her that there is litigation against her and asking for her personal information.

•400 block of D Street, noise complaint. Patrol investigated the complaint and knocked on the trailer door several times before the owner came and stated that his family was watching a Christmas show and may have had the surround sound up too high.

•2500 block of Military Road, burglary. Patrol responded to an alarm to find the front door glass of the business had been broken with a large rock.

Thursday, Dec. 13

•7000 block of Lockport Road, suspicious vehicle. Patrol observed a vehicle parked near the senior center in the town park and interviewed occupants who said they were just "watching a movie." Subjects advised to leave the park.

•2300 block of Military Road, suspicious person. Patrol responded for a woman lying behind a dumpster at a business. The woman said she had an argument with her husband.

Friday, Dec. 14

•Military Road, Porter Road, Tuscarora Road and Lockport Road, traffic tickets. Patrol issued traffic tickets in 11 incidents for offenses including, driving erratically, passing a vehicle on the left in a no passing zone, running a red light, speeding, failure to notify DMV of an address change, expired inspection, brake light out, going through a stop sign and no seatbelt.

•3000 block of Petroleum Street, removal. Caller requested removal of his wife's son; was upset he was bringing her alcohol.

Saturday, Dec. 15

•Porter Road, traffic ticket. Patrol issued ticket for speeding to driver doing 69 mph in a 45 mph zone.

•1900 block of Military Road, vandalism. A Hamburg man complained that while he and his family were shopping in the mall someone put streaks of what appeared to be white paint on his pickup truck.

•1705 Fashion Outlet Boulevard, removal. Sabre Park security guard reported a male told him he was helping a friend remove the flooring from his trailer and had permission to be at the site. Property manager reported the man did not have permission.

•6700 block of Elsa Place, hit and run. A Liberty Avenue man was issued two traffic tickets after he admitted backing out of a driveway, hitting a car across the street and leaving the scene.

•1900 block of Military Road, larceny. A mall employee reported she purchased Christmas gifts valued at $3,581, put them in the back seat of her vehicle in the south lot and went to work. When she returned the passenger side window was smashed out and the gifts gone.

Sunday, Dec. 16

•4700 block of Isherwood Drive, EMS. Patrol assisted Niagara Active Hose Volunteer Fire Co. and Rural Metro Ambulance with a woman having difficulty breathing. Patrol also assisted with a call for a male having difficulty breathing in the 1000 block of Sunnyside Drive.

•Military Road, traffic stop. Patrol stopped a driver towing a dark-colored trailer without any working taillights at night. Owner said, "I don't know when I last registered it. I don't use it all the time."

Monday, Dec. 17

•3200 block of Military Road, larceny. A business owner reported that someone stole two metal and wood benches, each valued at $100, from the front of the business.

•1600 block of Military Road, larceny. A victim reported that someone entered the employee office area at a business and stole her wallet. She reported two males between the ages of 17 and 24 had entered the store, immediately separated, walked around and left abruptly. Her bank called and reported suspicious purchases were on her credit card at two other Military Road businesses within 15 minutes of $109.90, $211.90 and $210.88. While interviewing the victim patrol also was informed that $120 from a store cash drawer also had been stolen. Store videotapes were obtained at the locations.

•4400 block of Military Road, traffic tickets. A driver determined to be at fault in an accident in front of a grocery store on Military Road told patrol she was leaning over to get a tube of lip balm when she saw the brake lights of another vehicle and could not stop in time. She was ticketed for driving too closely, driving with a suspended license and expired inspection and not having valid proof of insurance. A witness who left the scene also said she was talking on her cell phone at the time of the accident.
