Assemblyman John D. Ceretto has announced that the New York State Department of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation has agreed to illuminate the Lewiston plateau dog park to provide a safe, well-lit area in which residents can walk their pets after work. The lighting of the dog park began Wednesday.

Ceretto made the request regarding the lighting of the park after several residents contacted his office regarding the availability of the park after dark. State Parks has agreed to provide lighting for the park on weeknights from 4 to 8 p.m., until further notice.

"The lighting of the Artpark dog park will provide a safe and fun environment in which residents can walk their pets after work," Ceretto said. "I applaud the NYS Parks for the quick steps it took to provide a valuable service to Lewiston residents and park visitors."
