The members of the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Co. are actively raising funds for a new ambulance, and they need your help. The new ambulance fund, "Survives on donations alone," explained YFC Trustee Greg Robertson Sr.

Taxpayer money has never been used for operation or maintenance of the fire company's ambulance and its services in the past, and YFC members hope to keep it that way. They maintain it is vital for the company to raise the money through donations, sponsorships, and fundraisers to keep its services free. The fire company, its emergency personnel and the community will greatly benefit from a new and updated ambulance.

The fire company has been conducting the "Drive for Life" campaign for the past three years, and Robertson was happy to admit the company has collected approximately 75 percent of the goal, largely due to corporate sponsorships and donations from residents of the Youngstown community. The fire company plans to raise the remainder of the $125,000 and have the new ambulance by the end of 2013.

Robinson encourages readers to support Youngstown's 100-percent volunteer-staffed fire company by making a donation today. Donations can be made to the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Co., P.O. Box 387, Youngstown, NY 14174.
