Roadwork notice

Temporary overnight lane closures are scheduled on the Niagara Thruway for the northbound South Grand Island Bridge through Friday, Dec. 14, the New York State Thruway Authority announced.

The work is scheduled overnight only, for installation of a new electrical system.

Lane closures to facilitate the electrical work and lane designation signals on the northbound South Grand Island Bridge, left or right lane, will take place:

•Friday, Nov. 30, 10 p.m. through 8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1.

•Monday, Dec. 3, from 9 p.m. through 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4.

•Tuesday, Dec. 4, 9 p.m. through 6 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5;

•Wednesday, Dec. 5, 9 p.m. through 6 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6;

•Thursday, Dec. 6, 9 p.m. through 6 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7;

•Friday, Dec. 7, 10 p.m. through 8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8.

The traffic impact is expected to be minimal, according to the Thruway Authority.

This work is part of a two-year, $14 million rehabilitation project, which also includes deck joint repairs and a new driving surface for the southbound South Grand Island Bridge. Bridge deck work is scheduled to begin in spring 2013.
