Island observes Veterans Day

Banks, schools and even the Town Hall were closed Thursday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day.

Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans posts on Grand Island were represented at a ceremony held in DeGlopper Memorial Park.

Slick roads cause Isle crash

Winter's first snowfall made for some slick roads, causing drivers to be extra cautious and attributing to the first of this season's accidents. Jean MacDonald of Broadway was heading home along East Park when she lost control of her car, hitting a tree. She suffered only bruises and was shaken up by the incident, however her car was totaled.

Prior to states, girls soccer team received large send-off

As many Island residents know by now, the Grand Island girls varsity soccer team participated in the state semi-finals this past weekend in Honeoye Falls. However prior to boarding the bus and leaving, they received a large send-off ... the first ever for a girls team in school history.
