Erie County Sheriff's Office Report for Nov. 23, 2012

The Erie County Sheriff's Office responded to 165 calls from Nov. 10 to 16. Below is a sampling of the noteworthy incidents on Grand Island.

Deputies responded to nine burglary false alarm calls during the dates of this report.

Saturday, Nov. 10

•Love Road, suspicious person - Deputies located a suspicious person in a pizzeria parking lot who appeared to be looking into vehicles. The subject was advised.

•Grand Island Boulevard, disturbance - Deputies responded to a tavern for a report of loud yelling and screaming. Deputies located the parties and advised them.

•Love Road, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•I-190, animal loose - A complainant stated that a cow was blocking the roadway on the I-190 near the South Grand Island Bridge. Deputies were unable to locate the animal.

•West Park Road, fire other - A complainant stated that a lot of smoke was in the area. Deputies checked and located a party in the area that was using a fire pit. The subjects were advised.

•Baseline Road, road rage - A complainant stated that a female driver cut her off and began yelling obscenities at her. Deputies spoke with all parties and advised them.

•Love Road, reckless operation - A complainant stated that a vehicle was swerving all over the road. Deputies located the vehicle in question and advised the driver.

•East Park Road, barking dog - A complainant stated that a dog was barking in the area for the last few hours. The dog control officer was notified.

Sunday, Nov. 11

•South State Parkway, reckless operation - A complainant stated that a vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed on South State Parkway. Deputies checked but were unable to locate the vehicle.

•Colonial Drive West, animal loose - A complainant stated that two dogs were running loose in the area. The dog control officer was notified.

•Baseline Road, hit-and-run accident - Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle that had hit a fire hydrant and then fled the scene. The incident was not reported until hours after the actual incident had occurred.

•Baseline Road, fatal motor vehicle accident - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident involving a telephone pole. Upon arrival, deputies found a vehicle that had struck the pole, with one occupant inside who was unresponsive. The victim was pronounced deceased. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

•Colonial Drive West, all-terrain vehicle operation - A complainant stated that numerous all-terrain vehicles were riding on the private property owned by Niagara Mohawk Co. Deputies were unable to locate the ATVs.

•Stony Point Road, loud music - A complainant stated that loud music was coming from a residence in the neighborhood. Deputies located the source and advised the occupants.

•Alvin Road, larceny - Employees of an automobile dealership stated that someone stole a tailgate from a vehicle on the lot. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Love Road, reckless operation - A complainant stated that two vehicles were speeding down the street. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicles.

•Fix Road, shots fired - A complainant stated she heard numerous gunshots in the area. Deputies spoke to numerous people in the area but were unable to locate the source.

•Ward Park Road, suspicious vehicle - A complainant stated that a suspicious vehicle was parked in front of her home and appeared to have two occupants. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Monday, Nov. 12

•Beaver Island State Park, reckless operation - A complainant stated that a vehicle was speeding through the park and throwing items out of the windows. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

•Dolphin Drive, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that numerous "For sale" signs and plow markers were in his yard when he woke up in the morning.

•Baseline Road, road obstruction - A complainant stated that several hay bales and pumpkins were blocking the roadway. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate any obstructions.

•South State Parkway, motorist broke down - Deputies assisted a motorist whose vehicle had become disabled.

•Staley Road, suspicious person - A complainant stated that several subjects were trespassing on her property. Deputies located the subjects and advised them.

•Ferry Road, suspicious incident - A complainant dialed 911 and requested a cab ride. Deputies located the subject at a local drinking establishment and advised him.

Tuesday, Nov. 13

•East River Road, criminal mischief - A complainant stated that a group of youths were walking down the street late at night and damaged his mailbox. Deputies located the youths, who agreed to pay for the damage to the mailbox.

•Grand Island Boulevard, animal injury - A complainant stated that an injured raccoon was laying in the roadway. Deputies located the deceased animal and removed it from the street.

•Grand Island Boulevard, neighbor dispute - A complainant stated that a neighbor in the apartment above him was stomping on the floor. Deputies spoke with all parties and advised them.

Wednesday, Nov. 14

•East River Road, larcenies - Numerous complainants stating that, sometime during the night, someone stole various items from unlocked vehicles.

•Baseline Road, drunk driving - Deputies responded to a report of a domestic incident on Baseline Road. Their investigation led to the arrest of a 21-year-old man for driving while intoxicated. The man registered a .13 of 1 percent blood-alcohol content after submitting a sample of his breath for chemical analysis. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Grand Island Court.

Thursday, Nov. 15

•Alt Boulevard, deer struck - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident involving a deer. No injuries were reported.

•Grand Island Boulevard, burglary - A complainant stated that, sometime during the night, someone stole various items from a business after making entry by forcing open a window. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Baseline Road, welfare check - Deputies responded to a report of a 911 hang-up call at a residence on Baseline Road. Deputies spoke to the occupants and determined the call to be a misdial.

•Grand Island Boulevard, drunk driving - Deputies responded to a report of a reckless operation complaint. Their investigation led to the arrest of a 39-year-old woman from Grand Island for felony driving while intoxicated and other traffic infractions. The woman was charged with the felony DWI due to a prior conviction. She refused to submit a sample of her breath for chemical analysis and was transported to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment in the Town of Grand Island Court.

Friday, Nov. 16

•Grand Island Boulevard, larceny - A complainant stated that, sometime in recent days, someone stole an ATV from his property. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Whitehaven Road, suspicious vehicle - A complainant stated that an unoccupied vehicle was parked in the WUTV Fox 29 lot. Deputies located the driver and advised him.

•East River Road, burglary - A complainant stated that, sometime in recent days, someone stole various items from his houseboat. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Long Road, motorist broke down - Deputies assisted a motorist whose vehicle had become disabled.

•I-190, motorist broke down - Deputies assisted a motorist whose vehicle had become disabled.

•Grand Island Boulevard, deer struck - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident involving a deer. No injuries were reported.

•Grand Island Boulevard, reckless operation - A complainant stated that a vehicle was running stops signs and red lights in the area. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

•Grand Island Boulevard, suspicious vehicle - Deputies located two vehicles that were unoccupied in a vacant lot. No persons were around the vehicles.
