Town of Niagara Police Blotter for Nov. 21, 2012

The following incidents were reported to the Town of Niagara Police between Nov. 10 and 18.

Saturday, Nov. 10

•2400 block of Tuscarora Road, trespass. A 32-year-old Tuscarora Road man was arrested for trespassing after he moved a barricade to enter a gated firing range.

•5000 block of Tindal Lane, juvenile problem. Patrol responded to a complaint of juveniles breaking branches off trees.

•8000 block of Effie Drive, ATV problem. Complainant reported that every day around 6 p.m. someone drives an all-terrain vehicle through her yard and into the woods.

Sunday, Nov. 11

•2500 block of Military Road, DWI. A 23-year-old Buffalo Avenue man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after patrol observed him driving north at a high rate of speed. Asked why he was speeding, he replied, "I was trying to get to Mighty Taco before they closed." The man failed a sobriety test.

•4700 block of Liberty Avenue, fire. Reported fire in the area. Patrol located burning leaves and had the homeowner extinguish.

•7500 bock of Beechwood Circle, neighbor problem. Two aggressive males arguing over leaves that are blowing into each other's yards.

Monday, Nov. 12

•100 block of Paul Drive, fire. Patrol responded to Sabre Park for a working structure fire. Witness said he saw a boyfriend of one of the owner's daughters exit the trailer before the fire.

•2200 block of Fashion Outlet Boulevard, suspicious person. Officers checked the area on a report of a male in his 30s carrying a backpack and a long red pole, and learned the man was a mall employee carrying an umbrella.

Tuesday, Nov. 13

•2500 block of Military Road, recovered property. Business reported a baggy containing a green leaf-like substance believed to be marijuana was found while cleaning off the front counter.

•Porter Road, car/deer accident. A deer was struck by a car and thrown into oncoming traffic. Deer deceased. Second car towed.

•4700 block of Liberty Drive, assist fire department. Patrol assisted Niagara Active Hose Volunteer Fire Department with a carbon monoxide alarm. Homeowner had just had a new furnace installed that day. Residents evacuated. National Fuel dispatched to the scene.

Wednesday, Nov. 14

•4200 block of Witmer Road, fire. Heavy smoke and minor flames observed in rear of business. Owner, who said he was burning personal documents, was advised to put the fire out.

•3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue, prowler. Complainant said his dog was barking, and when he looked out the window he noticed his car door was open. Nothing was stolen.

Thursday, Nov. 15

•1900 block of Military Road, theft of services. A restaurant employee reported a 39-year-old man and his companion came into the restaurant to eat and left without paying a $75 bill.

•Military Road and Route 31, roadside domestic. Patrol responded for a couple arguing on their way home from the casino. Wife had pulled over car and started to walk home. She said she has been married to her husband for many years and sometimes he annoys her.

Friday, Nov. 16

•Military Road, juvenile problem. Complainant reports juveniles may have thrown something on the roadway from the railroad overpass.

•1000 block of Sweet Home Road, domestic. Officers assisted Lewiston Police with a domestic incident.

Saturday, Nov. 17

•4000 block of Creekside Parkway, animal complaint. Complainant reported a dog had been in the fields crying all night long and his tie-out chain was wrapped around trees and shrubs. Food and water provided. Dog sent to SPCA for evaluation.

•I-190, road blocked. Patrol responded to area near Witmer Road and removed several barrels from the roadway.

•Porter Road at I-190 entrance, arrest. A 25-year-old Michigan Avenue woman was arrested after being stopped for not wearing a seatbelt. Patrol could detect the odor of marijuana. Drug dog brought in; positive response.

Sunday, Nov. 18

•500 block of C Street, assist citizen. Patrol responded for a possible harassment. Complainant just wanted to vent about ongoing issues with his live-in girlfriend.

•Military Road, cell phone ticket. Driver was observed holding a cellular phone in front of her face and appeared to be texting instead of looking at the road. She told patrol, "I wasn't texting. I was looking to see if my mother had called."
