Town of Niagara Police Blotter for Nov. 15, 2012

The following is a sampling of calls received by the Town of Niagara Police between Nov. 1 and 9.

Thursday, Nov. 1

•Military Road at Porter/Packard roads, arrest. A 20-year-old Grand Island man was arrested after the vehicle he was driving was stopped for speeding and going through a red light. He admitted to possession of a baggie of marijuana. Asked why he was speeding, he said he was "showing off for my friends" and that the car ran the light because it had bad brakes.

•Lockport Road, reckless driving. Patrol investigated a report of a gold Ford Explorer driving west on Lockport Road with a passenger opening the door and screaming. Nothing found.

Friday, Nov. 2

•2500 block of Military Road, burglary. Complainant reported that sometime overnight someone forced entry into the side door of the business and took about $600 in cash.

•8500 block of Porter Road, removal. Complainant reported her ex-boyfriend was at her front door and refused to leave.

Saturday, Nov. 3

•2900 block of Military Road, check situation. Patrol responded to the area of Laur and Military roads for a report of a strong odor of natural gas in the area. Negative results.

•Military Road, road blocked. Patrol cleared debris from Military Road and North Whitham Drive.

Sunday, Nov. 4

•2600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, assist citizen. Patrol responded for a custody exchange standby.

•Military Road at Porter-Packard Road, arrest. A 46-year-old Sadlo Drive man was arrested after a traffic stop for aggravated unlicensed operation in the third-degree, operating without insurance, no inspection and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.

Monday, Nov. 5

•5100 block of Tuscarora Road, larceny. Complainant reported that, while bringing groceries inside the residence, someone took his wallet from the passenger seat of his unlocked vehicle.

•3200 block of Bellreng Drive, harassment. Complainant reported that his father, who is disabled and unable to talk, was harassed by a neighbor when walking by his house.

Tuesday, Nov. 6

•6600 block of Woodside Place, burglary. Complainant reported that, sometime between Saturday and Monday, someone broke the rear window of her garage and stole her son's golf clubs.

•1500 block of Military Road, aid assist. The Niagara County Sheriff's Office reported a 42-year-old Seventh Street man had fled into a wooded area to the north after committing a larceny at a grocery store. Patrol parked in an area where they believed the suspect would exit the woods, and captured the man at gunpoint.

•100 block of Expressway Village, arson fire. One motor home was a total loss and a neighbor's was damaged by a fire believed to be set deliberately at a vacant residence. Former residents reported they had moved out due to ongoing neighbor problems. Niagara Active Hose, Frontier and Upper Mountain volunteer fire departments responded.

Wednesday, Nov. 7

•3100 block of Sadlo Drive, vandalism. A 54-year-old 97th Street woman was arrested for criminal mischief after being seen on a video camera installed in a nearby tree spray-painting a car. The victim reports ongoing issues with the suspect for more than a year.

•2400 block of Military Road, false alarm. Holdup alarm. Accidental trip; employee set the broom handle on the panic button.

Thursday, Nov. 8

•2400 block of Louisiana Avenue, fraud. Complainant reported receiving an email from someone she knew asking for a loan of 2,000 euros, because he had to take a sudden trip to Spain to see a cousin who needs a kidney transplant and that his credit card wouldn't work in Spain. She contacted the person in Michigan and found out that the email was a scam.

•4700 block of Tindal Lane, Wildwood Acres, juvenile problem. Report of juveniles trying to break into mailboxes.

Friday, Nov. 9

•3700 block of Rhode Island Avenue, assist fire department. Patrol responded to assist Niagara Active Hose with a carbon monoxide alarm. National Fuel reported a positive reading. Two people were evacuated while the investigation continued.

•8500 block of Third Avenue, vandalism. Complainant reported someone egged his car overnight. He reported that this has happened two or three times in the past.
