Two Global Spectrum employees, as well as the Global Spectrum-managed Old Falls Street, USA's "Side Show Celebrating Nik Wallenda," have recently been honored by regional and national organizations.

Linda Persico, CMP, sales manager at The Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls, was honored with the 2012 President's Award by Meeting Professionals International. Susan Swiatkowski, marketing director at The Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls and Old Falls Street, USA, was named to the Buffalo Business First "40 Under Forty" Class of 2012. Old Falls Street's "Side Show Celebrating Nik Wallenda" was named the Outstanding Event of the Year by the Buffalo Niagara Event Professionals.

Persico, a Williamsville resident, has been a member of MPI's northeast New York chapter since 2006 and is a former member of the Western New York chapter. MPI says meeting and event planners serve a critical role in the success of business. Persico was chosen by Chapter President Vanessa LeClair for her years of active participation on various committees and for going above and beyond to assist the approximately 125 chapter members.

Swiatkowski, a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, was honored to Business First's annual list of rising leaders for her continued commitment to promote activities that aid in the redevelopment of her hometown, including events on Old Falls Street, USA, and the surrounding area, as well as collaborations with the Downtown Niagara Falls Business Association and various non-profit entities in the Western New York region.

Old Falls Street's "Side Show" was honored in the "Extra Large Event" category (20,000-plus guests), at the 2012 Buffalo Niagara Event Professionals Outstanding Event Awards celebration, held on Oct. 24. The Global Spectrum-managed event was lauded for its promotion and execution of free daylong circus-themed activities provided for the thousands of guests who visited to witness Wallenda traverse a tightrope over Niagara Falls on June 15.

"We are proud of the accomplishments of our staff members, who not only work hard to promote downtown Niagara Falls, but spark the overall economic development of our area," said Global Spectrum's Ryan Coate, general manager of The Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls and Old Falls Street, USA. "In addition, we were honored that the 'Side Show Celebrating Nik Wallenda' was named as the region's 'Extra Large Event of the Year.' This once-in-a-(lifetime) collaboration was a pleasure to bring to the thousands (of) Niagara Falls visitors and truly exemplified the world-class activities that our company is able to produce on Old Falls Street, USA."
