We couldn't find any reindeer, but it turns out Santa is an excellent equestrian! Join Old St. Nick in coming weeks on the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum carrousel; just make sure you're on the "nice" list.

Start the day off with lunch at 11 a.m., when you can visit with Santa and make sure he got your letters. Then there will be lots of fun, festive activities starting at noon, including stocking decorating, holiday ornament making, and coloring a picture for Santa. Warm up with some hot chocolate and s'mores and, of course, don't forget to hop on the historic 1916 carrousel.

Program dates are Saturdays, Nov. 24, Dec. 1, 8 and 15. Lunch is served at 11 a.m., with activities running from noon until 3 p.m.

An extra highlight each afternoon is a special holiday performance at 1 p.m.:

  • Nov. 24: Holiday show with Chuckles the Clown
  • Dec. 1: A "grinchy" Christmas story performance
  • Dec. 8: Holiday magic with Rob and Carol Allen
  • Dec. 15: Holiday concert with Matt James' Cool Music for Kids

The cost for this fun and festive event is $10 per person for lunch, or $5 per person for the afternoon activities only (no coupons or passes accepted). Reservations and prepayment are required for lunch. Call 716-693-1885. Lunch price includes all afternoon activities.

An adult must accompany children. For more information, contact the museum at 716-693-1885.

The Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum is housed in the historic Allan Herschell Company Factory building at 180 Thompson St., North Tonawanda.
