Lewiston Public Library November programs, events and activities

The Lewiston Public Library, 305 S. Eighth St., in the Village of Lewiston, announces the following programs, events and activities for the month of November.

•A genealogy program will be offered Thursday, Nov. 8, at 6 p.m. Angelo Coniglio, a Western New York genealogist and author, will present a two-part lecture titled "Finding Your Sicilian/Italian Immigrant Ancestors." The lecture will also include a discussion of records for foundlings, or abandoned children, which served as the inspiration for Coniglio's historical novella "The Lady of the Wheel (La Ruotaia)."

Questions will be taken from the audience during the lecture and, afterward, signed copies of the book will be available for purchase.

•An Open Access computer class is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 29, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration is required for all computer classes. Stop in or call the library, 716-754-4720, for details.

Clubs and More

•Lewiston Public Library board of trustees will meet Monday, Nov. 5, at 5 p.m.

•The Lewiston Book Club will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 1:30 p.m. For further information, contact Anita Mallimo at 716-754-7714.

•The Dead Beats Society will meet Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m. in the Local History Room.

Personal instructional genealogy appointments may be made on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

•The Lewiston Writers' Group will meet on Monday, Nov. 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lewiston Public Library. For more information, visitwww.lewistonwritersgroup.com.

•The Knitting Club meets every Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. No registration is required and knitters of all skill levels are welcome. For more information, contact Ellen Comerford at 716-754-4144. Bring your needles and yarn.

Story Times

•Tail Waggin' Tutors has appointments available for your child to read to one of the library's special Tail Waggin' Tutor dogs. Any questions, contact Ann at [email protected].

•Alphabet Soup, a story time is for ages 3 to 5 years old, meets Mondays, Nov. 5, 19 and 26, at 10:30 a.m.

•Lewiston Lapsit, featuring music, finger play rhymes and stories for babies birth to 23 months, meets Wednesdays, Nov. 7, 14, 21 and 28, at 10 a.m.

•Toddler Time, featuring music, finger play, stories and crafts for ages 2 to 3 years old, meets Wednesdays, Nov. 7, 14, 21 and 28, at 10:30 a.m.

•Story Time with Mrs. Leardini, featuring music, stories and crafts for all ages, meets Thursdays, Nov. 8, 15 and 29, at 10:30 a.m.

The library will be closed on Monday, Nov. 12, in observance of Veterans Day, and on Thursday, Nov. 22, in observance of Thanksgiving.

Library hours: Monday-Tuesday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday-Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, noon to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
