Amy Hope Witryol, D-Lewiston, a candidate for the New York State Senate, has been endorsed by U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer.

Schumer said, "Amy Witryol's financial expertise makes her well-suited to protect the interests of the taxpayers in her district. And no one will be a stronger advocate for the kind of campaign finance reform we need to reduce the influence of special interests."

Witryol expressed appreciation for Schumer's support noting that his public service to New York has been characterized by integrity, intelligence and results.

Separately, Rochester's major newspaper, the Democrat and Chronicle, wrote, "Amy Hope Witryol brings decades of banking experience and political passion to her race for the 62nd District state Senate seat. Those attributes, along with a platform that includes economic development and governmental reforms, have earned her the Democrat and Chronicle's endorsement. Witryol supports stronger ethics reform in Albany and says her No. 1 issue is 'to take the money out of politics.' That would be a welcome change in the state Senate."
