Mount St. Mary's Hospital to present series of health education programs in November

November is Diabetes Awareness Month

Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center will present a series of programs in November as part of its health education program and event series. November is Diabetes Awareness Month.

On Wednesday, Nov. 6, certified diabetes educator Debra Hoffman will present "Counting Carbs." Learn about healthy eating behaviors for individuals and families at 6 p.m. in Room 249 of the main hospital building. To register, call 716-298-2145.

On Nov. 13, 14 and 15, "Taking Charge of Your Diabetes" will be presented by Hoffman. This class will run from 6 to 9 p.m. It will be held in Room 249 of the main hospital building. To register, call 716-298-2297.

On Monday, Nov. 26, Dr. Faraj Touchan will present "The Benefits of Laser GYN Surgery." Touchan is an obstetrician/gynecologist. The program will be held at 6 p.m. in Room 249. To register, call 716-298-2145.

Other programs for the month include:

•Nov. 3: Fibromyalgia support group at 1 p.m. in Room 249

•Nov. 8: Lupus support group at 6:30 p.m. in Room 723A

•Nov. 12: "Grandparents in Waiting" at 7 p.m. in Room 249

•Nov. 13: Alzheimer's support group at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence

•Nov. 14: Parent's grief support group for infants at 6:30 p.m. in Room 723B

•Nov. 15: US TOO! Niagara Region prostate cancer support group at 7 p.m. in Room 723A

•Nov. 17: Expectant parents one-day class from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. in Room 249

•Nov. 20: Diabetes support group at 6:30 p.m. in Room 723A

•Nov. 27: Breast cancer support group at 7:30 p.m. in Room 723A

•Nov. 28: Postpartum breastfeeding class at 1 p.m. in Room 249

•Nov. 28: Fertility care introductory sessions in natural family planning at 7:30 p.m. in Room 249
