Temporary overnight lane closures are scheduled on the Niagara Thruway (I-190) for the northbound South Grand Island Bridge beginning Wednesday, Oct. 24, and continuing through Friday, Dec. 14, the New York State Thruway Authority this week.

The work is scheduled overnight only, for installation of a new electrical system. It is part of a two-year, $14 million rehabilitation project that also includes deck joint repairs and a new driving surface for the southbound South Grand Island Bridge. Bridge deck work is scheduled to begin in spring 2013.

The Thruway Authority appreciates motorists' patience during this important improvement project.
