State Sen. George Maziarz, R-C-Newfane, has been awarded a score of "A" by New Yorkers for Better Libraries. Maziarz received a 115, constituting an "A" on the grading scale from the organization.

"I have long been a supporter of libraries throughout the state, and continually advocate for passage of legislation that supports these gems in our communities," Maziarz said. "I am proud to be a member of the Senate select committee on libraries, where it is our goal to ensure that libraries receive their fair share of funding and support. Libraries play a major role in our communities, providing services for adults and help educate the children of our future. I am honored to receive such a high rating, and will continue to advocate for our district's libraries in Albany."

The legislative rating is based upon how the legislators throughout the state voted on key bills throughout this past year. Additional points were awarded for sponsoring library-priority legislation and the library aid in the state budget.
