The 16th annual Howl-O-Ween Hayrides at the Buffalo Zoo will kick off this weekend. The zoo's friendly, not-too-frightening Halloween event offers something for boys and "ghouls" of all ages.

Attendees will enjoy trick-or-treat stations around the zoo as well as hay rides, games, apple cider and donuts. Children (and grown-ups) are encouraged dress in their favorite Halloween attire and participate in the costume parade.

The event will take place from 4 until 7 p.m. on Oct. 20, 21, 27 and 28. Ticket prices for the event are $6 for zoo members and $9 for non-members. Children under the age of 24 months will be admitted for free. Tickets can be purchased by calling 716-995-6131 or online at www.buffalozoo.org. Tickets are also available for purchase at the gate each evening of the event until 6 p.m. Tickets may be used for any of the four days of the event, but are redeemable only once.

The zoo admission gates will close to regular zoo visitors at 2 p.m. on event days. Grounds will remain open until 3 p.m.
