An open house on Sunday at River Lea, home of the Grand Island Historical Society, included fashions from the '60s (that's 1960s), when the society was born.

The society is celebrating its 50th birthday this year.

In photo No. 1, society members, from left, Sharon Nichols, Barbara Birt, Jeri Benzing, Maggie Gushue and Teddy Linenfelser served as docents for the open house.

In photo No. 2, Jennifer Long, left, the niece of Sharon Nichols, models a dress from her aunt's '60s wardrobe, as Adele Upton recalls the '60s hippie culture. (photos by Larry Austin)

The next River Lea open house is from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21.
