Obit -- William F. Farnham Sr.

William F. Farnham Sr., of the Tuscarora Nation, passed away on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. He was a member of the Beaver Clan, born in Buffalo on Aug. 16, 1933, the son of the late Frank and Carrie (Green) Farnham.

Farnham supported his mother by working on the Cameron Nichols farm as a youth. He was employed with the Stauffer Chemical Company for more than 28 years.

Farnham started the Tuscarora Roofing Company in 1964. He also ran the Farnham Grocery Store for 10 years and, in 2007, he started a fruit stand and propane business.

He was a lifelong member of the Tuscarora Baptist Church, where he was an active member, serving as treasurer, head trustee and deacon.

Farnham was a member of the Sanborn Lions Club and the Sanborn Historical Society. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rose A. Printup; three sons, William F. (Janice) Farnham Jr. of Sanborn, Edward (Barbara) Farnham of Ransomville, and Gary (Yvonne) Farnham of the Tuscarora Nation; two daughters, Nancy (the Rev. Robert) Dean of Basom, and Shelly Woodbury of the Tuscarora Nation; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Farnham was the brother of the late Thomas, Burton and Minnie Farnham, Mary Mt. Pleasant and Barbara Jean Farnham.

The family will be present on Thursday, from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. at Rhoney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn. A prayer service will be held there on Thursday at 8 p.m.

Friends may call on Friday, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Tuscarora Baptist Church, 2088 Mt. Hope Road, Sanborn. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Walter A. Printup Jr. and the Rev. Robert Dean officiating.

Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in William's name to the Tuscarora Baptist Church building fund.
