Violet (Heisterberg) Bush (pictured) celebrated her 100th birthday on Sept. 9. A dinner party was held in her honor with friends and family gathering Sept. 15 in the community room at the Woodlands Senior Village in Wheatfield, where Bush has lived since April 2008.

She was the youngest of three girls born to the late Gustav and Helen Heisterberg. She lived on Ward Road until she was 6 years old, when she moved with her family to a farm in Pendleton, living there until marrying Ernest Bush in 1934.

After graduating from Trott Vocational School as a registered nurse, Violet worked at Mount View in Niagara County until retiring in 1974. As a hobby, she raised angora rabbits and spun their fur into yarn, making many beautiful items.

Violet is well-liked by all and is completely independent. She was still driving until three months ago.

"She is an incredible lady and we are extremely fortunate to have her here with us. We all love her," said Jessica Gordon, building manager for the Woodlands Senior Village.

Violet and Ernest had one son, Spencer, who resides in Reynoldsville, Pa. She also has a granddaughter, Laury Lynn (Bush) Weinheimer of North Tonawanda, and a great-grandson, Erick Jon Weinheimer.
