Lewiston No. 1 Volunteer Fire Co. continues to make progress each week in its ongoing firehall renovation efforts. Within the past two weeks, the company finished its plumbing and electrical work in the existing hall, and a shipment of steel is due to arrive Oct. 2, allowing the construction of the structure of the new hall to begin.

A drawing was held on Saturday, Sept. 15, to determine the winners of the raffle prizes for the company's annual fundraiser, held recently. The drive raised funds to purchase new fire equipment, such as a new ambulance (shown above) acquired a few weeks ago to better serve the community.

Lewiston residents Duane Frederick won a 40-inch Hitachi LCD TV, Jane Sermak received a Garmin GPS, and Betty Rienzo won a fire safety basket.

Although the raffle drawing has ended, donations are still being accepted for the company's continuing renovation efforts. (photo and report by John M. Curtin)
