Erie County Sheriff's Office Reports for Sept. 7, 2012

The Erie County Sheriff's Office responded to 176 calls from Aug. 25 to 31. Below is a sampling of the noteworthy incidents on Grand Island.

Deputies responded to 14 burglary false alarm calls during the dates of this report.

Saturday, Aug. 25

•Woodstream Drive, fireworks use - A complainant stated that fireworks were being used in the area. Deputies located the source of the fireworks and advised the subjects.

•Greenway Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that his neighbor's car door was open and appeared to have been rummaged through sometime during the night. Deputies located the owner of the vehicle, who confirmed it was not in the same condition as when she last saw it. The owner inventoried the items inside and reported that nothing appeared missing.

•East River Road, attempted break-in - A complainant stated that sometime in recent days, someone attempted to break into a shed on her property. At the time of the report nothing was reported missing. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•East Park Road, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a 2 car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•East River Road, road obstruction - A complainant stated that someone placed traffic cones in the roadway. Deputies removed the cones.

Sunday, Aug. 26

•Ward Park Road, suspicious vehicle - A complainant stated that a suspicious vehicle was parked on the street late at night, and appeared to be occupied. Deputies located the vehicle and advised the subjects.

•West River Road, animal loose - A complainant stated a loose dog was running through the neighborhood. The dog control officer was notified.

•Whitehaven Road, reckless operation - A complainant stated that a vehicle was weaving in and out of traffic on Whitehaven Road. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

•Baseline Road, criminal mischief - A complainant stated that doors to a business had been damaged sometime during the night.

•Grand Island Boulevard, disorderly person - Deputies assisted security at Fantasy Island in removing a disorderly female. The female left without incident.

•East River Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated sometime in recent days, someone put small fish in his mailbox.

Monday, Aug. 27

•Grand Island Boulevard, parking complaint - A complainant stated that several semi-trucks were parked in the Grand Island Plaza late at night with their engines running. Deputies advised the truck drivers.

•Grand Island Boulevard, motorist broke down - Deputies assisted a motorist whose vehicle had become disabled.

•Hemlock Drive, fireworks use - A complainant stated that fireworks were being used in the area. Deputies located the source of the fireworks and advised the subjects.

Tuesday, Aug. 28

•Fix Road, road obstruction - A complainant stated that someone placed numerous garbage cans in the roadway. Deputies removed the garbage cans.

•West River Road, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•Whitehaven Road, drunk driving - Deputies responded to multiple reports of a vehicle driving erratically on Whitehaven Road Their investigation led to the arrest of 46-year-old man from Tonawanda for driving while intoxicated. The man refused to submit a sample of his breathe for chemical analysis. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Grand Island Court and was released to a sober third party.

Wednesday, Aug. 29

•Grand Island Boulevard, warrant arrest - Following a traffic stop, deputies arrested 25-year-old Jacklyn Mysliwiec of Grand Island after a check showed she had an outstanding bench warrant from the Town of Amherst. She was turned over to the custody of the Amherst Police Department.

•Woodlee Lane, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•Whitehaven Road, motorist broke down - Deputies assisted a motorist whose vehicle had become disabled.

•East River Road, shots fired - A complainant stated he heard several shots fired in the area of East River Road and Fix Road. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the source of the suspected shots. The complainant further stated he was unsure if the noise could have come from fireworks.

Thursday, Aug. 30

•Stony Point Road, welfare check - Deputies responded to a report of a 911 hang up call. Deputies spoke to the homeowner and determined the call was a misdial.

•Whitetail Run residential burglary - A complainant stated that sometime in recent days, someone broke into her residence and stole various items. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Friday, Aug. 31

•East River Road, deer struck - A complainant stated a deer had been struck by a vehicle and appeared to be deceased on the side of the road. The deer was removed from the roadway and Niagara International Transportation Technology Coalition was notified.

•East Park Road, parking complaint - A complainant stated that a parked vehicle was blocking the sidewalk. Deputies located the owner, who moved the vehicle and was advised of the parking laws.

•Ransom Road, suspicious vehicle - A complainant stated that two suspicious vehicles were parked near Grand Island High School's Masters Field late at night. Deputies located the vehicles and the owners, who were restocking the concession stand.
