Press release

Leadership Niagara markets its program as "one year that will change your life."

Soon, that life-changing experience can come with college credit, too.

That's because Niagara's foremost leadership-training organization is partnering with Niagara University to offer all former, current and future Leadership Niagara participants an opportunity to earn three college credits based on their LN experience. To do so, LN graduates will develop a community-minded project around one of the topics that were discussed during the year.

"The course was established in recognition of the hard work and unique programming that Leadership Niagara has been providing over the past few years," said the Rev. Joseph L. Levesque, C.M., NU president. "Niagara University is committed to developing community leaders and this is yet another way for us to continue to fulfill our mission."

The Community Interrelationships Course was designed to supplement Leadership Niagara's in-class experience and improve the social structures operating within the community. Students will be tasked with making sure that the project aligns with the missions of both institutions, assessing its impact on the community, creating strategic and marketing plans and determining its sustainability.

"It isn't enough for leaders to simply learn about the issues impacting our community. Leadership must be practiced and developed," said Molly Anderson, executive director of Leadership Niagara. "This course will help us to enhance the experience of these participants and provide them the tools to succeed. We are pleased to offer a program that will benefit every prior LN graduate and take Leadership Niagara into the future. It is truly an honor to partner with Niagara University, a premier academic institution, to further engage our graduates to lead change and really make a difference."

The class will begin on Oct. 18, and finish Dec. 6.

Registrations will be accepted until Sept. 10. To register and/or obtain more information, call Niagara University's Institute of Applied Learning at 716-286-8309.
