On Thursday, Aug. 2, the Omnipresent Puppet Theater, pictured at right, presented "Sleeping Beauty" to a group of over 75 children and parents at the Grand Island Memorial Library.
On Monday, Aug. 6, the Niagara University Repertory Theatre visited the library. More than 40 children and adults were entertained by songs and stories presented by a group of very talented theater students from Niagara University.
Calendar of Events
•The Grand Island Memorial Library's normal summer hours of operation are Monday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, 1 to 9 p.m.; closed Saturday and Sunday.
•The Grand Island Memorial Library will present a series of adult computer classes.
√ Friday, Aug. 17 - Google Maps and Mashups (Requirements: mouse skills and regular Internet use), from 10 a.m. to noon

•Summer reading programs continue. Visit the library to register and win a book bag filled with surprises.
Ongoing Programs
√ Preschool Story Hour, Monday or Tuesday mornings, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., for ages 3 to 5 years old. Registration is necessary.
√ Toddler Lapsit, Wednesdays, from 10:30 to 11 a.m., for ages 18 months to 3 years old, with an adult caregiver. Registration is necessary.
√ Bookworm Read-To-Me Club and Book Marks Club, independent reading clubs. Visit the library to register and receive a reading log.
√ Rookie Readers, Tuesdays, from 2 to 3:15 p.m., for children entering grades 1 and 2. Registration is necessary.
√ Page Turners, Thursdays, from 2 to 3:15 p.m., for children entering grades 3 through 6. Registration is necessary.
√ Battle of the Books, for students entering grades 6 through 9. Registration is necessary.
Special Programs
•The Grand Island Memorial Library presents Summer Specials @ the Library. For more information visit the library or call 773-7124. These programs are funded with proceeds from the 2011 Rare Affair Library System Fundraising Gala.
√ Tuesday, Aug. 14 - Charlie and Checkers, magicians and jugglers, will perform from 2 to 3 p.m. All ages welcome; children under age 5 must be accompanied by an adult.
