Ceramics, glass, and jewelry workshops offered on Saturdays in August
It's never too late to learn a new craft. Here is your opportunity to discover a hobby, brush up on a technique or master a skill at Artpark's new adult art workshops.
Registration is now under way for three art workshops offered in August at Artpark. Adult art workshops will include a two-part ceramics workshop, a glass-fusion workshop and a workshop focused on metal clay jewelry.
Artpark 2012 Adult Art Workshop Schedule
•Ceramics (two-part workshop): Part one is Aug. 4, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Part two is Aug. 11, from 9 a.m. to noon. The fee is $75. Description: This two-part ceramic class will demonstrate hand-building as well as throwing techniques, along with electric and raku kiln firings.
•Fused Glass: Aug. 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fee is $65. Description: Bruce Verbeck, an experienced Western New York glass artist, will guide the class through the technique of fusing glass in a kiln, as well as discussing types of glass, glass cutting and more to create a one-of-a-kind fused glass artwork.
•Metal Clay Jewelry: Aug. 18, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fee is $65. Description: Dawn DiGesare, a metal clay artist and fine art jeweler, will teach the basic fundamentals of working with silver precious metal clay, cleaning, firing and finishing a unique piece of jewelry.
Persons at all levels of expertise may register, but must be at least 18 years old. Enrollment is limited, as one-on-one instruction is emphasized. Full payment is due upon registration.
