CBS hosts a town hall meeting with President Obama at Newseum in Washington, D.C.

CBS News will conduct a special town hall meeting on the economy with President Barack Obama on Wednesday, May 11. CBS News' "Face the Nation" anchor Bob Schieffer and "The Early Show" co-anchor Erica Hill will join the president before a live audience at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. CBS News Business and Economics Correspondent Rebecca Jarvis will facilitate questions from a nationwide online audience via a special partnership with YouTube. The special, one-hour town hall meeting will be broadcast on Thursday, May 12, during the 8 a.m. (ET) hour of "The Early Show."

CBS News is making preparations for a town hall next month with leading Republicans about the economy.

Excerpts from Wednesday's event will be broadcast later that evening on the "CBS Evening News With Katie Couric" (6:30 p.m., ET) and during a special edition of "Face the Nation" on Sunday, May 15.
