Cornerstone Community FCU, in light of the tragedy that has occurred in this community, has partnered with FeedMore WNY to support neighbors in need who have lost access to their grocery store.

A press release said, “Those looking for ways to support our community are invited to stop by one of Cornerstone Community FCU's six locations with donations from the most needed items: nonperishable protein items, shelf-stable fruits and vegetables, beverages, snacks, toilet paper, personal care items and diapers/wipes.”

Items may be dropped off at the donation barrels currently located at each branch. Any monetary donations to FeedMore WNY may be brought to any Cornerstone Community FCU teller. Donation barrels will remain in place as long as FeedMore WNY can accept donations during these difficult times.

As a reminder, Cornerstone Community FCU's five physical branches located in Niagara County are 55 Stevens St. and 6485 S. Transit Road in Lockport; 5 State St., in Middleport; 4255 Witmer Road, Niagara Falls; 107 Main St., North Tonawanda; and the Erie County branch located at 315 Stahl Road.

CEO Eric M. Hepkins and Board of Directors Chairman David Nemi, on behalf of the entire board and staff of Cornerstone Community Federal Credit Union, said, "On May 14, many of our neighbors suffered immeasurable loss, and we all have been deeply impacted by this horrible act of racism and hate. The Western New York community is our home, and we will help support our neighbors in every way we can. We grieve with our community. We pray our community will unify and pour love on each other in response to this. Racial discrimination and hate have no place in our lives, nor in our community. Together, we all can and will make a difference – we will not allow this tragedy, this hate, this evil to win. Cornerstone has established a community outreach program to get food and necessities to our neighbors in need; please visit any branch to make a donation.”

Cornerstone is a credit union/financial cooperative that has been serving Niagara County since 1957. Today, it serves both Niagara and Erie County and has approximately $573 million in assets. It began as Unit No. 1 Federal Credit Union, serving the employees of Harrison Radiator Division of General Motors.
