Friday, July 15, at Elmwood Avenue at Bidwell Parkway

The 40th running of the “Subaru Buffalo 4-Mile Chase” will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, July 15. This event is expected to bring more than 1,200 runners to the City of Buffalo. Over the past 39 years, runners from all 50 states, and 30 countries, have participated in this Elmwood Village event.

The race will start on Elmwood Avenue and Bidwell Parkway and finish at the Buffalo Seminary on Bidwell.

The “Subaru 4-Mile Chase” has been recognized as Western New York’s premier international sporting event, one of the “Top 3 four-mile races in the world,” according to the Association of Road Racing Statistics. Regionally, it’s become one of the social running events of the summer.

More than $10,000 in cash prizes and awards will be given out to participants, and course record bonuses are expected to, once again, attract some of the top U.S. and foreign athletes who compete in major road races throughout the country.

A list of elite and invited runners, as well as a schedule of events, will be provided at a later date.

Proceeds from the event will benefit ECMC, Western New York’s only level 1 adult trauma center, and the programs affiliated with The Police Athletic League of Buffalo.
