“National Geographic Live's 2022 Speaker Series,” the touring events that bring to life the awe-inspiring and remarkable stories of National Geographic Explorers, concludes at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, with Vincent J. Musi's "Where the Wild Things Live." Award-winning photographer Musi gets up close – almost too close – to his subjects, despite the fact they growl, bark, roar, bite, hiss, claw, poop and pee on him. The audience, in the Mary Seaton Room at Kleinhans Music Hall, can expect to be immersed in adventure and discovery.

For more than 30 years, National Geographic photographer Musi has covered diverse assignments – from traveling Route 66 to global warming, life under volcanoes, and Sicilian mummies. But an unusual twist of fate has led him to the highly unpredictable world of animal portraiture.

With his trademark witty sense of humor, Musi taps into his inner Dr. Dolittle as he shares stories from his encounters with some extraordinary animals, including a bonobo with a 300-word vocabulary, and a crow that makes and uses tools. He visits some exotic pets, the world's deadliest snakes, rodents of unusual size, and other animals you'd never expect to see in someone's living room. Musi will also present his “Year of the Dogs” project, a work in progress celebrating the beauty and character of the amazing creatures we welcome into our homes, families and lives.

Joe Priselac, CEO of P&A Group, said, "We are proud to help bring ‘National Geographic Live's’ series to Buffalo. This informative and inspiring programming celebrates our natural habitats and inspires curiosity for our surroundings in an engaging and approachable format."

Hadley Exhibits CEO Ted Johnson said, “The presentations we procure through this exciting series are spectacular and give us firsthand insight into the unique worlds of animals and nature around us."

A press release noted Musi's engaging, one-of-a-kind presentation is part of “National Geographic Live's” collection of events happening throughout the U.S. and abroad. National Geographic's broad roster of talent, including renowned photographers, scientists, authors, filmmakers and adventurers, share their behind-the-scenes stories from the front lines of exploration alongside stunning imagery and gripping footage.
