On Friday, New York State Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt and Assemblyman Angelo Morinello recognized Frenchy’s Pizzeria as the “Small Business of the Month” for December.

For more than 30 years, the Mutos have operated Frenchy’s Pizzeria, at 2210 Niagara St., in the business district of Niagara Falls. The leaders said the Mutos and Frenchy’s Pizzeria have “built a strong bond between their family business and the local community. They recognize and appreciate those customers and community partners who have helped them sustain over three decades of business.”

In 2021, Judy and Vic Muto took it upon themselves to give back to those who have been so important to Frenchy’s Pizzeria over the years. They made several donations of food and money to numerous organizations and groups, including raffles that raised thousands of dollars for Community Missions and Heart, Love & Soul. They have also taken it upon themselves to give back to frontline workers and first responders, feeding the Niagara Falls Fire Department, the Niagara Falls Police Department, and the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center staff.

Each year, Frenchy’s donates 30 to 40 turkeys to the Police Athletic League, makes monetary donations to the Salvation Army, donates food to the Lord’s Day dinner, and contributes to the local youth soccer league. In addition to Frenchy’s yearly community efforts, the Mutos made a $5,000 donation to a local resident in need of a medical operation, and donated gift certificates to many of Niagara Falls’ school basket auctions.

A press release noted, “Frenchy’s is always looking for new charities to help and new ways to give back to the people of Niagara Falls, and they welcome suggestions from their customers and community leaders as to people or organizations that could benefit from the business’ philanthropic endeavors. As long as Frenchy’s Pizzeria is in business, they will continue to give back in any way they can.”

Ortt said, “Frenchy’s Pizzeria is more than just a place for families to grab a slice of delicious pizza or wings for Bills games – the establishment is woven into the history and character of our Niagara Falls community. They have committed to giving back to those who have helped contribute to Frenchy’s success, and are determined to make the community they operate in a better place for those living in it. I thank the Muto family and all of the staff at Frenchy’s Pizzeria for everything they have done, and I am proud to recognize them as the SD 62 Small Business of the Month.”

Morinello said, “Congratulations to Frenchy’s Pizzeria for winning Small Business of the Month. Frenchy’s has been an absolute staple in Niagara Falls for over 30 years. They are extremely hardworking, and their product is a result of that. I want to thank the Muto family for their very generous donations to different groups and organizations over the years, and I also want to thank them for continuing to invest and believe in our community. Congratulations!”
