Applications open for Just Buffalo Writing Center Youth Fellowship

Just Buffalo Literary Center announced the 2021 Just Buffalo Writing Center youth fellowship, a six-week summer opportunity for two Western New York-based young writers to develop their craft and explore professional avenues within the literary arts.

“The JBWC youth fellowship offers young writers a chance to be just that: writers,” said Noah Falck, Just Buffalo’s education director. “It is important for young people to be given the time and space to explore their own writing and to be taken seriously. It is a summer highlight for us to be able to work side by side with such talented young people.”

Open to youth in Western New York between the ages of 15-18, the selected young writers will work with a mentor, be encouraged to develop their unique voice as a creative writer and thinker, and present a creative writing project to be completed over the course of the fellowship. The fellows will each be offered a $1,200 stipend.

The 2021 youth fellowship will be conducted entirely online. The application deadline is Monday, June 21, and the chosen fellows will be announced in early July. More information, as well as the application, can be found at justbuffalo.org/youth-fellowship.

Just Buffalo Literary Center’s mission is to create and strengthen communities through the literary arts.
