FeedMore WNY is able to provide more nutritious food to its Western New York neighbors in need thanks to support from area retailers and the community. “Check Out Hunger” campaigns at Dash’s Market, Lexington Cooperative Markets, The Market in the Square, Tops Friendly Markets and Wegmans Food Markets raised a total of $780,323 to help FeedMore WNY continue to respond to the ongoing need for food assistance in the community as a result of the pandemic.

During “Check Out Hunger,” customers made donations of $2, $3, $5 or rounded up at the register of participating retail partners in order to feed struggling infants, children, families, veterans and older adults throughout Western New York. These donations come at a time when FeedMore WNY is experiencing a significant increase in the amount of people it serves.

“In 2020, 180,880 individuals turned to FeedMore WNY for food, for friendship and for hope. This is a 36% increase from the amount of people we served in 2019,” said Tara A. Ellis, president and CEO of FeedMore WNY. “It is because of our generous community members and dedicated partners like Dash’s Market, Lexington Cooperative Markets, The Market in the Square, Tops Friendly Markets and Wegmans Food Markets that we are able to continue our mission and lift up our struggling neighbors. We are deeply grateful for their support as we work to make sure no one in our community has to go without nutritious and life-saving food.”

“Check Out Hunger” is a critical fundraiser for FeedMore WNY.

Price Rite Marketplace and members of the Premier Group will hold campaigns for the nonprofit later this year. More information can be found online at www.feedmorewny.org/check-out-hunger/.
