Obituary: Mary Lou Schultz

Mary Lou Schultz (nee Winslow), born May 29, 1944, passed away Friday, Dec. 11, 2020, at Elderwood Nursing Facility in Wheatfield. Mary Lou was the daughter of the late J. Arthur and Tanis Winslow (nee Ramirez).

A lifelong Western New York native, Mary Lou spent her life in service to others. As a RN, her work included Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Stella Niagara and the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. She was a cherished member of the Lewiston Service Guild, Beta Sigma Phi, a Girl Scout leader and a volunteer with HART. In life, she enjoyed sailing, crafting, baking and being with family. 

Mary Lou is preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Schultz. She is survived by three brothers: A. Robert "Bob" (Dolores) Winslow, L. Leo (Elva) Winslow and James N. Winslow; and her children: Damien (Nancy) Schultz (Cheyenne, Wyoming) Mary Beth Tuttle (Middleburg, Virginia) and Dr. Michael Tuttle (Clarksville, Tennessee). Mary Lou was the proud “grand-mama” of 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. 

Her service continues beyond this life with the Jacobs School of Medicine at the University at Buffalo.

A celebration of Mary Lou's life will be held with an 11 a.m. Mass on Saturday, May 29, at St. Bernard’s R.C. Church in Youngstown.
