Starting Monday, Nov. 16, the Buffalo Zoo will be closed to the public every Monday through Thursday, and open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The new operating hours are a seasonal change for the venue and will last until March 28, 2021.

A press release said, “Like many businesses and organizations grappling with the impacts of COVID-19, the zoo has carefully scrutinized many of its operational practices, including pre-pandemic attendance patterns, which are very low during the weekday winter months.”

The Buffalo Zoo will be open during the week over the winter holiday (Monday, Dec. 21, through Thursday, Dec. 31), as well as Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Monday, Jan. 18) and Presidents Day (Monday, Feb. 15). The site is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

While the Buffalo Zoo will be closed to guests Monday through Thursday, animal care teams and staff will continue their daily routines. On-site education programs are available for enrollment and will continue during the week. Additionally, Buffalo Zoo Members are reminded to use their unlimited visits and enjoy complimentary members-only treats during the winter.

“What won’t change is our excellent team of animal care professionals will continue to be here every day providing world-class care,” said Norah Fletchall, president and CEO, Buffalo Zoo. “Our educators will provide on-site and online programming, while our marketing, membership, and development teams will continue to engage our audiences and raise funds to keep the zoo running.”
