The Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce’s almost-annual display of scarecrows has again taken to local streets. Business owners celebrated the fall/Halloween season by constructing colorful effigies symbolic of their industry or trade.

A chamber email stated, “We took a hiatus from the contest for a few years and decided this year would be a great year to bring it back. The creativity was absolutely AMAZING!”

First place was awarded to Coppins Service Center, located at Center and South Sixth streets.

Chamber of Commerce President Jennifer Pauly said, “Coppins Service Center took first place with ‘The Tow Crow’ at the 2020 Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce Scarecrow Display Competition. The creation was a favorite among judges and the many people who posed in front for photos throughout the month of October. The design and execution of the display was a team and family effort! Nicole McCartney, office manager, encouraged Jay to enter. Jay enlisted the help from his brother, Brett, and nephews to help with the creation of the fun display.”

Other winners:

Second place – Hunt Real Estate ERA with "Hunter MacHaunted"

Third place – Inspirations on Canvas with "Diva Devine"

Honorable mention – The Country Doctor with "The Doctor"

The creative scarecrows are on display through the end of October.
