Hamburg, Williamsville learning centers offer daytime prime study space to give working parents a break

Mathnasium Learning Centers of the Southtowns and Williamsville announced that, beginning Aug. 31, they will provide a formal distance-learning facilitation program for students 7 to 14 to do remote schoolwork from both learning centers.

The program, called “Prime Study Space by Mathnasium,” draws on Mathnasium’s ideal environment for parents working from home who need time to concentrate on work, knowing that their students are learning remotely with professional supervision and guidance from proctors.

Mathnasium learning centers of the Southtowns and Williamsville are offering two sessions: 8 a.m. to noon and 12:30-3:30 p.m. weekdays. Only one session per student is permitted. Prices are $1,200 a month and $900 a month per student, respectively. Parents may find their employee benefits cover some, or all, of the cost.

Enrollment started Monday, and space is limited due to CDC restrictions on social distancing. Mathnasium has been and will continue to strictly follow COVID-19 health and safety protocols and standards. Mathnasium provides a safe, supervised, well-lit study space with desk, chair and access to the internet and protected power sources.

Students must bring their own laptops, Chromebooks, tablets or iPads. Additionally, proctors will provide limited and basic homework assistance and keep students on task and off their cell phones. Food will not be permitted, due to potential food allergies. To reserve a spot, call the Southtowns learning center at 716-210-8445 or the Williamsville Mathnasium at 716-650-4225.

Parents who opt into the “Prime Study” program who also want to enroll their student in Mathnasium’s standard after-school supplemental and math enrichment programs will be offered a significant discount.

A press release said, “Opened in March 2019, Mathnasium of the Southtowns brought the first fun and effective supplementary math program to Western New York for children in grades two through 12.”

The learning center is located in McKinley Commons at 4154 McKinley Parkway, No. 400. The program expanded to Williamsville in February, in the Premier Plaza at 8014 Transit Road, No. 20.

The program focuses solely on math and operates on the core belief that virtually any child can excel in the subject. The Mathnasium Method, implemented at more than 1,000 Mathnasium learning centers in the U.S. and abroad, is a unique program that provides each child with a customized learning plan and personalized instruction in a way that makes sense to them.

Mathnasium hires teachers, and university-level instructors in engineering, math and sciences from education departments who have experience working with children. Each employee undergoes additional training in the Mathnasium Method of teaching. Everyone is background checked and the full facility is covered with security cameras.
