ASPA Buffalo Niagara Chapter honors local professionals & announces 2020-21 board

Local chapter for public administration professionals revived in 2018

ASPA Buffalo Niagara Chapter – the local chapter for the American Society for Public Administration – announced recipients of a first-ever annual awards program, and 2020-21 officers and board members during its recent 2020 annual meeting.

ASPA Buffalo Niagara Chapter recognized the following individuals in 2020 for their outstanding contributions to the field of public administration:

√ Excellence in Government Administration: Oluwole A. McFoy, general manager, Buffalo Sewer Authority

√ Excellence in Nonprofit Administration: Diane Oyler, Ph.D., vice president of programs, Health Foundation for Western & Central New York

√ Excellence in Public Administration Education: Laurie A. Buonanno, Ph.D., professor of political science, SUNY Buffalo State

Also during its annual meeting, ASPA Buffalo Niagara Chapter held elections for a slate of officers and board members for the 2020-21 year. Officers are as follows:

√ President: Tony Astran, MPA, APR, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center / New York State Smokers’ Quitline

√ President-Elect: Makenzie Docteur, MPA, SUNY Buffalo State

√ Immediate Past President: Brian Bray, MPA, Town of Amherst Senior Services

√ Secretary: Marisa Nold, MPA, New York State Unified Court System

√ Treasurer: Kenneth Stone, MPA, Buffalo & Erie County Public Library

√ Membership Officer: Brian Poliner, MPA, PhD, Hilbert College

Board members are as follows:

Michael Hughes, MPA, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service

Chris Jones, Ph.D., Walden University

Chris Marcello, MPA, New York State Office of Mental Health

Rosaleen Nogle, MPA, PE, BCEE, PMP, Buffalo Sewer Authority

Michael Ramos, MPA, City of Buffalo Environmental Safety

Gordon Stewart III, MPA, Niagara Falls Fire Department

Ray Wagner, MPA, SUNY Buffalo State

About American Society for Public Administration/ASPA Buffalo Niagara Chapter

Nationwide, the American Society for Public Administration has 61 local chapters and nearly 10,000 members. The organization strives to advance the art, science, teaching and practice of public and nonprofit administration. Locally, ASPA Buffalo Niagara Chapter revived in 2018 and now comprises 30 members and growing. The organization regularly co-sponsors the annual Public Service Recognition Week conference in April at SUNY Buffalo State.
